Almost an eagle

Done with planned weekends for a while. It's nice, but it was a hell of weekend for the big guy.

We put on a charity dodgeball tournament for a friend that is a tennis pro here and was diagnosed with skin cancer.
The tournament was Saturday and Sunday and turned out to be a complete success. We raised more than $7,000 for the guy and his family.
It was phenomenal.
Sunday was a great day. All the people that helped put it on along with a few others enjoyed a pool party at our friend Erin and Rob's place. After, went back to my house, drank beer and watched the sun say goodbye to the mountains. Some amazing colors came about. Then we had a campfire next to our house, before wrapping it up with a Nuggets win.

Monday was equally good. Played the first nine of the year at Yampa Valley Golf Course in Craig and played extremely well. Shot 40. Almost had an Eagle on No. 2. Crushed 5-wood to about 35 yards out. Hit a little wedge in that rimmed out and made my kick-in three.

Boy did it feel good to play golf again. Whenever there is anything on my mind a little golf takes a lot of stress away. I can honestly say there were some things bothering me Monday morning, but during golf I didn't think one bit about it and felt great after.

Followed it up with some Manic Training in Hayden. I've been doing it for a couple months and just get the living crap kicked out of me every time. It's too hard to explain so here's a video and story to explain it.

Thinking of trying to put together a little vacation in June or July. Haven't decided to where yet but have been browsing around taking the Amtrak train from Denver to San Francisco, then hopefully meeting up with some buddies there.
It's under $100. So that would be nice.

It's finally starting to feel like Spring here. At least for the time being, seeing as how it could snow at any minute. But it's been several nice days stacked together.
Either way I feel restless. I feel like I need to do something, I just don't know what. Maybe I'll trek down to Dinosaur this weekend or something just to get away from everything. I sort of need a retreat away from everything to get my mind right.

Maybe I'll go up to Wyoming. Which reminds me as I write this I need to get my fishing license. I think I'll probably get a license in Wyoming as well. It'll be worth it if I make it up there a half dozen times.

I've decided (for the third summer in a row) I'm going to do my best to take up fly fishing. In fact as soon as I finish this, I'm stopping by the fly fishing store and seeing what the deal is.

HEF OF THE WEEK
My dodgeball performance was less than stellar. The weekend was pretty low key, so there weren't too many chances for huge hefs. I suppose it could have been from seeing my brother on Sunday and realizing we're about six months away from him being able to absolutely stomp a mud hole in my ass. But we've still got six months to put the little pecker in his place.

Until next time, ya'all. Be good.
